Rockler Polyurethane Gel Finish Here's the latest and greatest polyurethane product, from the good folks at Rockler. If you've never tried a gel before, you'll be amazed at how simple and foolproof it is to apply a tough, long-lasting finish to all sorts of wooden projects with no drips, runs, or sags. Rockler's new Polyurethane Gel Finish combines the best of both worlds: the beauty and durability of oil based polyurethane with the easy application of a wipe-on finish. Try my favorite application method. Use a fine nylon abrasive pad (such as gray Scotchbrite®) to scrub the gel onto the wood. Wipe off the excess evenly with clean shop towels and let it dry overnight. One coat will give you the woody look and protection equivalent to several coats of Danish oil finish. If you prefer a thicker or shinier finish, repeat the exact same process, adding one coat per day, until you get the look you want.
