Q: I recently purchased the Wood Finishing Basics DVD and I love it. In it, you use a wooden clamp I have not seen before to hold the occasional table slats together. Can you tell me what type of clamp this is?
A: It sounds like you mean the cam clamps. They are a staple of all musical instrument makers, myself included. You can buy them from almost any woodworking specialty store, or make your own. If you would like to make your own, this website has step by step instructions with photos and plan drawings.
Gentle reminder: A modest donation to this finishing blog can keep it going to help others. Thanks!
